Privacy Policy
This explains what personal information Localo collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address and a password (stored in a protected, hashed form), and your role (customer, provider or admin).
- Bookings: the service, the time, the job description, your answers to the provider's questions, your suburb, and your address and access notes when the job is at your place. Your phone number only if you choose to share it.
- Providers: business name, description, suburb and service areas, rates, photos, working hours, and the services they offer.
- Reviews, reports and disputes you write, and the decisions made on them.
- Notifications and preferences: the messages we send you and which emails you have switched off.
- Technical data: basic information needed to run and secure the site, such as sign-in sessions and abuse checks.
Why we use it
To run the marketplace: to let customers request bookings, let providers answer them, send booking notifications and reminders, keep the service safe (for example by reviewing providers, handling reports and disputes, and limiting repeated late cancellations), and improve how it works.
Who can see it
- Providers see only your suburb until they accept your booking. After they accept they see your full address and access notes (when the job is at your place), and your phone and email only if you chose to share them.
- Customers see a provider's public listing: name, photo, description, service areas, prices and reviews.
- Localo administrators can see account and booking details when reviewing applications, reports and disputes. Their actions are recorded in an audit log.
- Your review shows your first name.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of services to run Localo: hosting and database providers, an email delivery service for notifications, and a bot-protection service on sign-in. They process data only to provide those services to us.
How long we keep it
Notifications are removed automatically after 60 days. Records of late cancellations and no-shows are removed after 90 days. Booking, review and account records are kept while your account is active and as needed for disputes and legal obligations.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected. You can switch off email categories from your account settings. To make a request, or to raise a privacy concern, contact us via our Contact page (see Contact). If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email.
